Sharon Gosler is modest.
What do I mean by modest?
Sharon doesn’t boast her own merits as much as she could - she is extraordinary.
An accomplished singer and songwriter; a graduate of the Berklee College of Music; a triple finalist in the Unisong Competition and a Dual Finalist in the U.K. Songwriting Competition - none of thiese credentials surprised me after I listened to her music.
Sharon
’s talent emerged at the age of twelve. She began singing cover tunes in a band and before long;
Sharon took up the serious study of voice and trained classically at a music conservatory. She continued her pursuit of singing landing roles in several musicals where she gained worldwide touring and performing experience.
Sharon states that her style has been influenced by her world travels and the exposure she gained to many different styles of music.
Sharon
has just finished recording her debut album and I suspect that positive reviews will start pouring in. Let's start with her voice. Here at AMG, we listen to hundreds of singers a day and I can tell you that I haven't heard a voice as rich as Sharon's in a long time. Now, let's look at her songs.
Sharon could forge a career as a songwriter alone. Now add polished production and what I hear is hit after hit.
Song Review for
Sharon:
(What if I had) the chance.
The first song that blew me away was (What if I had) the chance.
This song hit me in the gut, the place that every hit songs lands.
That should tell you something about this song - it is universal. It possesses a common chord, a common desire, in human nature – a second chance.
With this song –
Sharon won’t need a second chance. She gets it right the first time.
The chorus sticks with you and the song has a good punch to it.
Sharon sings about a chance to feel alive and the song makes you feel alive. It is uplifting, confirming and still a sadness lingers. When I finished listening to this song, the first thing I did was hit play again…and again…and again. This song exists for anyone who has ever asked the simple question: What if I had the chance to do it all again? And everyone has asked that question. The song accomplishes it’s message through convincing lyrics, a great melody and an upbeat delivery – the song may not give you your second chance, but is sets you free while you are listening to it.
All this songs needs is radio time - the rest will follow.
What if I had the chance to do it all again.
What if there came a day that heaven's door, opened just for me.
Do you have a map of the picture I should pursue.
What if I had the:
Chance to live my dreams
Chance to reign supreme
Chance to blow your mind
Kiss a beauty queen
Chance to feel alive,
Chance to live divine.
Chance to make it all worth while.
A chance to be remembered
Be all you can be.
A second chance on life
Is gonna set us free.
Album Review for
Sharon:
Listening to
Sharon’s album, you will be delighted to hear a mixture of blues and pop done in a commercially accessible style.
Shron's solid piano playing and strong vocals support a cast of well-written songs. Several songs stand-out. Note-worthy are Your Love, an extremely sultry blues ballad and Macy’s Song. Macy’s Song paints a picture of a girl who sings old rock and roll songs as she roams the streets alone. Later, the girl grows up into a woman who finds her dreams. Like the girl in the song,
Sharon is all grown up and she is beautiful and talented and my guess is that she will achieve all her musical dreams. Actually, if one of her dreams was to create an album filled with great songs, then she has already reached thatr dream!
